The 2011 Awards Dinner was held at the National Hotel Bendigo.

Carolyn Buckley from Melbourne and Camberwell Camera Clubs with Bendigo Camera Club President Andrew Leed (Best Creative Image and Best Projected Image), LesWiles (2011 Photographer of the Year and Best Portrait Print) and Boyd Robertson (Print of the Year). Allan Davis, winner of the inaugural Audio-Visual aggregate trophy, was not able to attend.

Carolyn was our judge for the night, and she showed a beautiful AV presentation of aspects of her own work - Travel In Vietnam and Creative Montage work.

Six members and a guest had a good day in Ballarat last Saturday 10th Sept.
Wide range of photographic exhibitions on a fairly mild day for this time of the year.

Side/front flash units at half power, rear flash at full power (hides the creases in the backdrop).

The two front flashes were triggered by radio control units, rear flash was triggered by the other two flashes with an optical slave unit.

Red wine is more difficult because it reflects the background more easily. If you look carefully you will see the camera in the glass, I could have removed the reflection in the setup but it was the white background version that was required for James Halliday's wine companion magazine (apparently if your into wine that may mean something to you).

The third image was the most difficult, white wine with a black background showed up every spot of dust, and very hard to not have the background reflected in the bottle. I tried using transparent umbrella's for the lighting, however the glass reflected the metal frame of the umbrella.

.....and no, I dont drink the stuff.

Today I attended a photography workshop with Richard I' Anson from Lonely Planet. The morning Richard showed us many of his impressive images, explained how he took them and gave lots of advice and tips on taking better images. The afternoon we tried to put into practice what he told us at Sovereign Hill.

Bendigo Camera Club had their storeroom burgled in the early hours of Sunday 14th August. Stolen were the 32" Teac Combo LCD TV, our laptop,digital projector, amplifier,speakers and the studio lights. It is a devastating loss that the club can ill afford.

I'm sure many of you saw the email earlier in the week from Nola Tidyman re Adrian Cook's illness.
Sadly, Adrian passed away today at the Bendigo Base hospital.
He will be a huge loss to the Goldfields Image Makers club and photography in general.
He has taught and mentored hundreds of students over many years so his work will continue to be appreciated for a long time.
We send our sympathy to his wife Joan and their sons.
Details of his funeral service are not yet complete, it is anticipated it may be Wednesday in Bealiba.

Adrians farewell will be a Graveside service at 2.30 Friday 17^th at Bealiba Cemetery followed by an afternoon tea at the Bealiba Town Hall.

This 4 week old Lion Cub was being hand rared at the Big Cat Game Reserve. I was lucky enough to hold him while were taken by vehicle to another part of the reserve. Cute little guy but his claws were extremely sharp.
